Translation in industrial settings
Translating in industrial settings is complicated not only becuse of technical language. It is also an atmosphere of a plant/factory that contributes to the overall work. I have recently translated during an industrial trial conducted at Binani Cement Plant in Dubai. Not only was I a part of a revolutionary experiement when traditional way of producing cement was replaced with innovative technology reducing clinker and CO2 emmissions down to 1/3 compared to regular Portland

Going to work
Going to work this morning, I happened to get at the head of the metro train. Looking ahead at the futuristic Dubai landscape, I was thinking about translation assignments I have done since I moved here in 2011. There were plenty: very different clients, conferences, topics and people. 2016 is a slow year beacuse of the oil prices or at least so they say. And none the less, we are moving forward just like the train I am on, following the narrow and strick path of the railway.
